‘Oban’
1,ooo non-toxic resin leaves coated with phosphorescence. During the day the leaves ‘recharge’ and at night give off a ghostly, ethereal glow. The installation was inspired by a Japanese Buddhist festival of the same name that honors the spirits of one’s ancestors.

In the constellation Auriga, this nebula is about 12,000 light-years away and over 100 light-years wide. It is a cloud of glowing hydrogen gas, whose shape is sculpted by stellar winds and radiation from an embedded open star cluster called NGC 1893
